Recipients are the individuals or businesses authorized to receive mail at your Earth Class Mail address. You can add, edit, or remove recipients directly from your account settings.
Before You Add a Recipient
When you click Add a Recipient, you will be asked to choose one of the following options:
Personal / Residential Use
Choose this option if you are an individual looking to receive personal mail.
Business / Organization Use
Choose this option if you plan to receive mail for a business or organization and its members.
The option you select determines who can be added and how USPS Form 1583 authorization is completed.
Personal / Residential Use
Personal recipients are intended for individuals and household members receiving personal mail.
Who Can Be Added
An account admin can add:
- Themself as a personal recipient
- Minor children
An admin cannot add:
- A spouse
- Adult children
- Other adults as personal recipients
Adding a Spouse or Adult Household Member
Each adult must create and authorize their own recipient profile.
To do this:
- Add the individual as an admin user on the account.
- The new admin logs into their own account.
- They create themselves as a personal recipient.
- They complete USPS Form 1583 identity verification for their own recipient profile.
This process applies to spouses, adult children, and any other adult household members.
USPS Form 1583 Requirements for Personal Recipients
Each adult personal recipient must complete their own USPS Form 1583 verification before mail can be received in their name.
Minor children do not need to complete separate verification when added by a parent or guardian.
Business / Organization Use
Business recipients are intended for companies, organizations, teams, and other business entities.
Who Can Be Added
Business accounts can include:
- Businesses
- Organizations
- Employees
- Team members
USPS Form 1583 Requirements for Business Accounts
For business or organization use:
- One authorized user can complete USPS Form 1583 verification for the business and its members.
- Additional business members do not need to complete separate identity verification individually.
This option should be selected whenever mail is being received on behalf of a business or organization.
How to Add a Recipient
- Log in to your Earth Class Mail account.
- Navigate to Settings or Recipients.
- Click Add a Recipient.
- Select either:
- Personal / Residential Use, or
- Business / Organization Use
- Enter the recipient information.
- Complete any required USPS Form 1583 verification steps.
- Save your changes.
Removing a Recipient
To remove a recipient:
- Navigate to the Recipients section.
- Select the recipient you want to remove.
- Click Remove or Delete Recipient.
- Confirm the removal.
Removing a recipient prevents future mail from being accepted in that recipient’s name.
Additional Notes
- Mail can only be accepted for verified and authorized recipients.
- Recipient names should match legal identification documents.
- USPS regulations require proper authorization for anyone receiving mail through a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA).
